At 10:26 am on Tuesday, 26 March 2012, we welcomed a new addition to our family. Miguel Edward Guevara was born, weighing 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and measuring 19" long. We instantly fell in love with him and were excited to have him here.
He didn't enjoy being taken out of Mom's arms to be wiped off a little and to be measured. Besides, that lamp they put you under while they do so is extremely bright.
The official weight as shown in this picture was 7 pounds 1.6 ounces, which got rounded up to 7 pounds 2 ounces. However, when it was being read out loud to be recorded on the paperwork, the person recording the information didn't hear the 1.6, but heard 6, so some of the paperwork says the correct weight, and some says 7 pounds 6 ounces. This made it a little confusing for a bit until I figured out the truth.
Dany was excited to have his son in his arms after he was cleaned off, but was extremely tired. We got about 6 hours of sleep at the most on Sunday night, and then I was in labor on Monday, and he didn't sleep at all that night while we were in the hospital. Not even during the couple of hours I was able to sleep after having received some pain medication. Poor guy.
Though this one is not being shown first, this is the first picture taken of Miguel by his daddy. He was such a handsome boy, with a full head of dark hair. Must be why Mom had so much heartburn during the pregnancy, according to old wives tales. He wasn't afraid to show his personality from the moment he was born, from his loud voice, his constant movement and activity, and his little attitude sometimes.
Two days later, on Thursday, March 22nd, both baby and mommy were discharged from the hospital. Though we had asked someone to take a picture of our little family right after Miguel was born, the camera must not have worked right, because we can't find it, so our first family photo that we have was taken after signing the discharge papers, before getting ready to leave. Two tired parents, and one well-rested baby.
Just after getting home from the hospital, Miguel stayed asleep for Mommy and Daddy after they put him in his crib so they could take a little bit of a nap. Such a cute sleeping baby!
After not letting Mom put him down for hours, Miguel was calm when she put him in the swing. He just sat there, and eventually fell asleep, giving Mom a chance to get some stuff done and relax and rest her arms. Like any true Florida Panthers fan, Miguel came home from the hospital sporting the red and blue with a Panthers' onesie, bib, and booties.
The next couple of nights, since Daddy took his vacation time, Mommy and Daddy took turns taking care of the baby in the middle of the night. This left Daddy worn out, so he slept a couple of hours during the day one day. Mommy made our matching pajamas and decided it was too cute to have us sleeping next to each other long enough to take a picture of them. :)
Two days after we all got home from the hospital, these flowers were delivered. Sent by Daddy's work. They were cute, and the wagon even rolls. On Sunday, Daddy went to church, while Mommy stayed home with Miguel, and then Daddy went back to work on Monday. On Tuesday, yesterday, Mommy and Miguel took Daddy to work, then went to pick up Grandma and Aunt Kathryn at the airport. We are enjoying having them here to help take care of us, and will share pictures from their visit soon.
